Open a PDF with nothing installed

There is always that moment when you have to open a PDF on a machine you don't control: the shared workstation in an open-plan office, a client's computer, a hotel's or a relative's, a session with no administrator rights. Installing a reader is neither possible nor desirable, and the system's default viewer is sometimes disabled or tied to software that demands a sign-up. An online viewer settles it: you open the page, you pick the file, it displays.

The second use is the last-minute check before you hit send. Are the pages in the right order, does the watermark land where it should, is the signature really there on page 4, did the last page stay blank, does the exported document match what you think it does? On mobile the benefit is even clearer: opening an attachment often triggers a third-party app, sometimes hungry for permissions, when a simple tab is enough to read the document.

Local rendering, with no upload whatsoever

The design is deliberately minimal: when you select a file, the browser creates a local object link for it on your own machine and displays it directly. The PDF is never uploaded, never sent to our servers, never copied anywhere — it does not leave your computer, and closing the tab is enough to release the resource. That is what makes this viewer usable for a confidential document you would never dream of dropping onto an online service. You then get page-by-page navigation, zoom and search from the browser's built-in rendering engine; if the file is password-protected, you will be asked for the password locally.

Once you have read it through, the rest of the site takes over if something is off: the reorder tool puts pages back in the right sequence, rotate straightens a page that arrived upside down, and compress lightens a file too heavy to attach. If the PDF turns out to be unreadable or truncated, the repair tool attempts to rebuild its structure. Here, everything happens in your browser: nothing is sent to our servers.
