You want it spotless before you send
A bundle is judged on its form too. Pages of different sizes, one page upside down, a document title still reading “Document1” or a previous author’s name: details that give the assembly away. They take minutes to fix.
- Your pages are not all the same size after a merge.
- The reader’s title bar shows an awkward file name.
- You are asked for a PDF/A for a submission or legal archive.

Check the metadata before any external send: it often holds the author’s name, the software used and sometimes the file path on your disk. It is the most common information leak, and the easiest to fix.

Common questions
What is PDF/A and when is it required?
A PDF variant designed to stay readable in twenty years: fonts must be embedded, no external content, no encryption. It is required for legal deposits, public archives and many university submissions.
My pages are different sizes — does it matter?
On screen it is mostly inelegant. In print it causes jams and inconsistent margins. The resize tool brings everything to one format, rescaling the content proportionally.
What exactly is in the metadata?
Title, author, subject, keywords, creating software, creation and modification dates. Anyone who opens the file properties can read them.
